Cooly Rocks On will attract over 75,000 people into the Gold Coast-Tweed region for the June 3-13 festival.

ACGA, August 17: Wallabies winger Lachie Turner will head Australia's charge for Rugby Sevens gold in Delhi after winning selection in coach Michael O'Connor's 12-man Commonwealth Games team.
Turner, who has some previous experience in the shortened version of the game, joins Super 14 Rookie of the Year Pat McCabe, Western Force winger Nick Cummins and Wallabies 2009 spring tourist Luke Morahan as four fresh faces in the Games team among seasoned Sevens campaigners who competed during the recent IRB Sevens World Series.

Water Polo, August 17: Defending champions Australia, fresh from its 10-8 win over the USA in a 2000 Olympic Games re-match in Sydney last week has emerged as the team to beat in the FINA Women's Water Polo World Cup, starting in Christchurch today.
The Aussie Stingers will be joined by National teams from Brazil, Canada, China, Greece, New Zealand, Russia and USA for the six-day tournament culminating in Sunday's finals day.

August 16: IF Robbie Deans and John O'Neill didn't wake up in a cold sweat on Friday morning, they'd have soon been swimming in perspiration after reading reports that fly-half Quade Cooper may be considering a switch to rugby league.
The Courier Mail wrote Cooper has had talks with Parramatta in the wake of contract problems with the Australian Rugby Union. We've since heard talk of an $800,000-plus per season offer.

The 17-year-old from Brisbane came from behind to blitz the field and take home Youth Olympic Silver in just over an hour in a total time of 1:01:04.39

AOC, August 13: Sixteen-year-old pole vaulting prodigy, Liz Parnov, has made history, having been selected as the Australian flag bearer for the first Youth Olympic Games starting in Singapore tomorrow.
"I am honoured to be selected as the Australian flag bearer," Parnov said. "I'm very lucky to be chosen from such a large group of talented athletes."

Seasoned campaigners Acason and Amanda Phillips will make their third Games appearance and bring a wealth of experience to the Australian team.
